What is Teviron and its benefits?
Teviron is a negative ion fibre transformed from polyvinyl chloride. Its ingenious invention and its unique features won the Okochi Award, the highest honour in the Japanese fibre industry, the Onshi Invention Award given by the late Emperor Hirohito of Japan and the Chemistry Technological Award given by the prestigious Chemistry Association of Japan.

An experiment was conducted by the Japan Society for Occupational Health. Five elbow pads were manufactured out of five materials i.e. Cotton, Rayon, Wool, Acrylic and Teviron. The testee wears only one elbow pad and the difference in temperature of the skin with and without the elbow pad is observed. Results show that when the room temperature is set at 25oC, differences in the temperature between these five types of fibre are not obvious. However, as the temperature gradually lowers, the temperature of the arm wearing the elbow pad made of Teviron is higher than the other bare arm. The difference in temperature is relatively obvious while other fibres create no distinct difference. This implies that in general circumstances, there is no distinct difference in temperature regardless of the material of the clothes that we wear. However, when the temperature falls, Teviron’s ability to keep us warm is much better compared to wool or any other materials.

Due to its supreme ability to keep warm, Teviron undergarments have been chosen by famous Japanese mountaineers and also by a group of Japanese challengers to the Artic Circle.
Therefore, by wearing Teviron, we can easily maintain our body temperature whether we are in an air-conditioning office or out in the hot sun to ensure proper blood circulation without interruption. Poor blood circulation can often lead to blood clots and hamper the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to our cells.

Heat insulation can be stifling hot, which keeps sweat inside the material and is uncomfortable, or it can be dry and warm. Since Teviron does not absorb water and has superior sweat dispersion features, it is not only warm but also dry.

Many people might think that since Teviron has great heat insulation and does not absorb water, it is not a breathable material and therefore, be uncomfortable to wear. A study conducted by the Carl Marx Textile Research Institute of Germany shows that the Teviron allows rapid water dispersion (sweat is expelled from the tiny pores between the fibres, without being absorbed by the fibres) and therefore, keeps the wearer dry and warm. We call this "sweat dispersion technology" and the only material that can reach this level of sweat dispersion is Teviron.
A test subject was asked to wear a specially made shirt with Teviron on the left and cotton on the right side. The subject started to exercise and was asked to stop after humidity level reached about 80%. The cotton side took approximately 40 minutes to dry but the Teviron side only need 10 minutes to be completely dry, thanks to its sweat dispersion technology. It is during these 30 minutes that our immune system is most vulnerable. Not only will we feel uncomfortable having wet clothes against our bodies and our body warmth be taken away as the sweat evaporates, the sweat (湿气) will be reabsorbed into our bodies, making us more susceptible to falling ill. Also, as you may know, it takes 539 calories to vaporise 1 c.c. of sweat. You will feel extremely fatigued just to vaporise your sweat. No wonder we feel so tired on a hot day!

Teviron is a very safe material. It is not easy to burn and has no extended burning property. If we light a piece of cotton and Teviron, the cotton will continue to burn and Teviron, instead, only singes around the area where it was lit and a black lump forms. It will give out a strange smell that can alert us that something is burning so that we can take immediate action. Teviron is awarded the Fire Resistance label by the Japan Fire Retardant

When two fabrics rub against each other, one side generates positive static electricity while the other generates negative electricity. When rubbing against all fabrics or skin, Teviron can generate negative static electricity (tests were conducted by the Textile Research Institute of Japan). The unique negative ion effect generated by Teviron is good for health.
It is a fact that the largest organ in our body is our skin. Experts believe that we are only able to absorb 15% of negative ions through breathing. However, our skin can absorb up to 85 % of negative ions. Therefore, our body can absorb 100% of negative ions if we wear Teviron.

For negative ions to be beneficial to health, it has to satisfy the following 3 conditions;

1.    In close proximity to the human body

2.    In huge quantities (over 100,000 per c.c. of air can help our body to self-heal)

Teviron is invented in 1955 and retailed by Nefful Japan since 1979. Nefful Japan was founded in 1973 by Mr. Hisami Kamijo and their headquarters are located in Shizuoka City, Japan.

Nefful is dedicated to the development of undergarments and it is the first to adopt a "home party" sales channel in Japan to share the products that the company has developed.

Care and maintain of Teviron

The way to wash and maintain Teviron is similar with other clothing. However, due to its unique way of production and in order to ensure that Teviron can continue to produce negative ions for a long time, the following steps should followed;

1.    Water temperature should not exceed 60oC when washing
When washing, the water temperature should not be over 60oC. After washing, Teviron can be dried under sunlight but it must not be placed on any heat conducting materials such as steel / iron hangers. As Teviron is afraid of high temperature, usage of a dryer or iron is prohibited as Teviron will shrink and harden upon contact.

2.    Do not wash with other dirty clothes
Teviron easily absorbs dirt from other clothes so it is best to wash separately.

3.    Do not use antistatic cleaner
Using antistatic cleaners i.e. softeners, will form a film over the Teviron fibre, affecting the functions of the negative ions. Bleach is also not recommended. Should Teviron get in contact with them, wash Teviron with lots of water or wash it again with its special cleaner.

4.    Use the proper washing mode
When washing in the washing machine, place Teviron in a laundry net and set the machine’s washing mode to low-flow and gentle washing to avoid damage caused by the drag and pull of water. When spinning, apply the same method.
